'Flash fiction: short stories that pack a punch'
Tuesday 19th November, 2024
6:30-8:30
Hot Numbers, Trumpington Street, Cambridge
No time to write a novel? No problem!
Flash fiction—often defined as literature under 1000 words—is an increasingly well-recognised and respected form. In our workshop, we'll read some successful published examples and focus on creating compact yet coherent arcs that leave room for ambiguity and hint at greater depths.

Hot Numbers, Trumpington Street, Cambridge
We are running our popular 'Ghost Stories for Christmas' workshop again, just in time for the festive season. Join us at Hot Numbers, the Trumpington Street branch, where we'll indulge in hot chocolate, cake and wine while we weave tales of the unquiet dead. In this workshop, we'll explore dark and evocative settings, summon supernatural entities (on paper) and discuss how to craft your narrative to create maximum suspense.

About our workshops
We run workshops every six weeks at The Yard in Ely, and also work in collaboration with Hot Numbers on Trumpington Steet, Cambridge, and Anglia Ruskin University. Keep an eye on our social media for exciting new workshop locations!
If you would like Artemis Writers to run a workshop at your place of business or event, get in touch with us at artemiswritersuk@gmail.com.
Workshops are for everyone, whether you're a seasoned author or just starting out. They last one and a half to two hours, and typically involve three or four exercises with a fifteen-minute break. Sharing with others is not compulsory, though you may find that getting feedback from people on your table sparks new ideas or helps you solve a tricky problem. Our workshops are suitable for ages 12 and over, though we focus on writing aimed at adults.
